About Nathan Ortiz

With a Bachelor of Science degree in tropical plants and soil science from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, Nathan began his career in the cannabis industry in his home state before moving to Colorado. There he worked as part of a research & development team tasked with improving product quality and increasing production levels in indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse facilities across multiple states and Canada. He later designed and implemented a companywide cannabis horticultural audit and was responsible for all growing facilities’ environmental monitoring systems. In addition to running his HI Standards Consulting company, Nathan is currently working with a cannabis adjacent construction company and writing the curriculum for the new BAS in Cannabis Science & Operations at the Community College of Denver.
