In the video, I finally was able to get out and put the SUP powered by a shortened
full-length drive system to the test. The Honda engine proved to have plenty of power
and quite frankly I was not sure how the stability would be with 205 lbs sitting on the
deck plus gear. I have built many various configurations, but a SUP with 2.0 hp was my
biggest surprise to date in performance. The lightweight board handles the power like
a dream. The average cruise speed was 4.7 - 5.3 mph with plenty of power left. The max
speed was about 6.7 mph with a neutral current. Since the board does not have a hull
like a kayak, I was expecting just average performance and tipsy cornering. I was proven
wrong the entire morning. The Wilderness mount, tiller extension, remote kill switch, and
extended pull cord gave me the same capability as the rest of my fleet. The acceleration
was effortless due to the weight and design of the board.
