Final Fantasy III - This is the Last Battle! (Cloud of Darkness)

I've been wanted to record this for almost a year now, in order to complete this "quadrilogy" of great Final Fantasy III arrangements in the Piano Opera series. But I kept procrastinating and putting it off, because it's "too hard" and other nonsense... I got an extra bit of motivation a few days ago, and finally did it!

This piece is made of three parts:

00:00 An introduction which is completely new to this arrangement I think. Incredibly ominous, with tons of extremely low Cs and D flats.

00:51 The pre-battle theme. Still very ominous, but in a completely different way... This time the scary feelings kind of crawl under your skin, with tons of diminished seventh chords.

1:48 The battle theme proper. I LOVE the opening part with the right hand tremolos and the left hand playing offbeat. This part of the song is incredibly hard to play - it's really written in an uncomfortable, unpianistic way. What also doesn't help is that I play at BREAKNECK speed. My tempo more or less matches the original's... but this arrangement isn't made for that (compare with the official recording). But despite being kind of unplayable, it actually sounds pretty good!
