Описание: Located at the privately-owned Scenic World tourist attraction near Katoomba (west of Sydney), the Scenic Railway is reportedly the steepest cable-driven funicular railway in the world, the steepest incline of 52 degrees dropping down to the valley below, a distance of more than 310 metres in just 45 seconds. Originally constructed for a coal and oil shale mining operation in the Jamison Valley in the 1880s, in order to haul the coal and shale up from the valley, from 1928-1945 it carried coal during the week and passengers on the weekends. It remained as a tourist attraction when the mine was closed in 1945. It was completely upgraded in 2013. This video shot in 2014 takes a ride down on the train and a quick look around the valley below before returning for the upward journey to Scenic World.
