Is there a downside to genealogy? What happens to our shared family trees and DNA samples? Are we compromising our own privacy and that of our loved ones? Is our most personal information being used by corporations without our knowledge? Professor Julia Creet, a critic of the genealogy industry, spoke to Sephardic World on 11 April 2021. Her documentary film, ‘Data Mining the Deceased’, is essential viewing for genealogists, and we encourage you to watch it. Professor Creet's is an important view that deserves consideration by the genealogy community.
