On introduction of the MGTF in 2002, the model was criticised for its harsh ride. MG Rover had intended that the Hydragas system be used on all mainstream models with a steel spring suspension system as a sports “upgrade”. Faced with significant price increases on Hydragas units, MG Rover incorporated the sports suspension on all TFs. The demand for a forgiving ride quality was finally addressed by MG Rover in early 2005, with the introduction of a more compliant front and rear suspension strut (20% softer on front, 30% softer on rear) introduced on a handful of TFs from chassis 5D639631 onwards, eliminating the harsh ride found on earlier production cars. It was this specification of damper and spring assembly that was also incorporated on later MG Motor produced MGTFs (excluding the 85th Anniversary model).
MGOC Spares is pleased to offer brand new complete ‘soft ride’ damper and spring assemblies from the original factory supplier, suitable for all MGTFs offered as a complete kit, comprising 4 x Damper Units inclusive of Coil Springs, Uprated lower Damper Bolts and Upper Damper Bushes.
