The Election Commission has started Phase Two of the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls in 12 states and union territories, including West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Assam, however, is not part of this phase due to unique citizenship rules under Section 6A of the Citizenship Act. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar clarified that Assam will have a separate voter roll revision schedule, ensuring accuracy while avoiding controversies from previous exercises like the NRC.
