Описание: Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh on Monday appealed to the representatives of various farmer unions to not hold protests against the three central farm laws in the state, instead he urged them to protest in Delhi or Haryana along with the farmers from other states.
Capt Amarinder also reminded them that the Punjab government has always supported them and their movement too.

Farmers are trying to stop people. Punjab is one state which has supported farmers and their movement. If Punjab had stopped them then gathering at Singhu and Tikri would not have been so big,” Amarinder said while addressing a public gathering after laying foundation stone of Government College at Mukhliana village in Chabbewal constituency. Earlier in the day, he also laid the foundation stone of PAU’s College of Agriculture at Ballowal Saunkhri near Balachaur in Nawahshar district.

After several rounds of talks, farm union leaders and the Karnal district administration reached a consensus on Saturday morning. Farmers leaders announced to call off their indefinite protest at the mini secretariat.

“It’s your own Punjab, Please don’t spoil things here. Let those protesting in Delhi and Haryana keep doing that. You do there, why should you do it in Punjab? Punjab needs development and I expect that they would agree with me and would not allow anything wrong here,” Amarinder said, adding, “In Punjab farmers are sitting at 113 places. It’s actually causing loss to Punjab. Why should the economy of Punjab be damaged? I expect they would agree with me.”

The chief minister was clear, saying that “instead of holding protests in the state, farmers should mount pressure on the Centre to get farm laws repealed”.
Amarinder said the farm laws have already been rejected in the state assembly and replaced by the state government’s farm laws which were sent to the governor for his assent.
