If you're new to my channel, I am Igor Yankin, a small animal emergency and critical care specialist based in Texas.

In this episode, we explore a practical study on diagnosing feline arterial thromboembolism (FATE) using lactate and glucose levels. Learn about the differences in lactate and glucose in affected versus unaffected limbs, and how these biomarkers relate to congestive heart failure (CHF). With a sample of 18 FATE cats and 41 controls, the study shows that Delta lactate and Delta glucose are reliable indicators for diagnosis, while Delta glucose also relates to CHF. Despite some study limitations, these findings could improve your clinical decision-making.
