Описание: The Altoona Works railroad shops in Altoona, PA, started construction in 1850 and eventually built its first locomotive from scratch by the end of 1866. Due to the growing need to perform all required locomotive maintenance, new shops were built in the Juniata section of Altoona in 1890. By 1938, all of the locomotive work in Altoona was transferred to the Juniata shops. The last new steam locomotive built in Altoona finally came in 1946 as the shops transitioned to performing maintenance on diesel locomotives.
