Here's a recitation of my poems on the theme of Light at CELCE poetry event, University of Leeds. I explore the dualities of life, where light and dark, light and heavy, serious and light (hearted) and the metaphor of light as a ray of hope that dispels the dark despair within oneself. It is the 'light' of discretion and wisdom within, that ensures our survival and empowers us: the awakening within, the Enlightenment.
These are some of the ideas my poetry attempts to bring forth, hopefully making it interesting and relevant to the main theme, 'Light'. We have to meditate on our strengths that enable us to take up life's challenges gently upon ourselves, remembering to take each day as it comes and sipping from the cup of hope, a little bit of light.
We usually emerge stronger as the issues resolve with time and our effort and creative solutions work effectively for our betterment.
Thus, empowerment lies in our enlightened state of acceptance of dualities of life and we all ought to acknowledge our interdependent co-existence with not only circumstances but also recognize our interdependence on all living creatures on the planet, and work towards constant self-improvisation, helping ourselves, and supporting each other shine brighter.
