The mother of Mir Sajjad Ali, Naziya, one of three Hyderabad men among 16 Indian nationals allegedly trafficked and enslaved on the Myanmar-Thailand border, has broken her silence with a desperate plea for government intervention. According to his relatives, Sajjad was lured from Osman Nagar, Hyderabad, with false promises of a high-paying job in Thailand. Instead, he and others were taken to the border region, where they endured brutal conditions: forced to work 18-20 hours a day in scams or labor operations, subjected to physical beatings, and stripped of passports, phones, and access to medical care. The family described receiving heart-wrenching messages from Sajjad detailing the abuse and isolation, leaving them in constant fear for his life and safety.

The family’s emotional appeal has amplified calls for urgent diplomatic action by the Ministry of External Affairs to locate, rescue, and repatriate the victims safely. While AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has publicly supported the cause by writing to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, the spotlight remains on the families’ raw anguish and the broader crisis of deceptive migration rackets that continue to exploit desperate workers across Southeast Asia.
