INS Androth, the second vessel in the Arnala-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) series, was commissioned by the Indian Navy at Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam on October 6, 2025. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), this indigenous warship reflects over 80% local content and marks a major stride in India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Designed for operations in littoral zones, INS Androth enhances India’s ability to detect and neutralize underwater threats, complementing larger platforms like frigates and submarines.

Following the induction of INS Arnala earlier this year, INS Androth strengthens the Navy’s layered ASW grid and bolsters coastal defence. Equipped with advanced sonar systems, lightweight torpedoes, and ASW rockets, it is tailored for high-performance in shallow waters. The vessel also supports maritime surveillance, search and rescue, and patrol missions.
