Ginisang Giniling Na Baboy With Egg (Sauteed Ground Pork With Egg)
Ginisang Giniling Na Baboy is a dish made of ground pork. Giniling is the Tagalog term for ground which is the ground pork and Ginisa means to sauté. This dish is usually made with potatoes (patatas), carrot, green peas and green bell pepper. Fresh tomatoes and soy sauce are used to flavor the sauce but some use tomato sauce instead. Hard boiled egg or quail egg are also added but it’s optional.
This dish is also served in carinderias.
Ginisang Giniling Na Baboy With Egg Recipe
Ingredients
½ kilo ground pork
1 medium sized onion, chopped
5-6 cloves garlic, chopped
3 medium sized tomatoes, chopped
1 carrot, peeled and cubed
2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 medium sized green bell peppers, chopped
4-5 tbsp soy sauce, according to your taste
Hard boiled eggs or quail eggs (optional)
Water
Fish Sauce
Salt and Pepper to taste
Cooking oil
Procedure
1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions and garlic. Cook until limp and aromatic.
2. Add tomatoes and cook until it softens and the juice comes out.
3. Add ground pork and cook until it turns color. Add fish sauce and stir for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add water and soy sauce then bring to a boil. Then lower the heat and simmer until the ground pork is tender
5. Add the potatoes and carrots and cook until it’s tender. Add water as needed.
6. Add green peas and green bell pepper. Season with salt and ground black pepper. At this time you can still add soy sauce if needed. Then cook for 4-5 minutes. Serve hot
