Описание: In a major preparedness exercise aimed at enhancing disaster response capabilities, the Indian Army conducted a large-scale joint mock drill titled "Operation Hifazat" in the Nowshera sector of Jammu Kashmir. The exercise showcased coordinated rescue and relief operations during floods and natural disasters, involving multiple agencies including the Army, NDRF, SDRF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police. They not only gaurd the borders but also come forward for the people during the disaster like situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The exercise began with drone surveillance of a simulated disaster-hit area, demonstrating how affected regions are assessed and stranded people identified during emergencies. The exercise was an aerial evacuation by an Army Cheetah helicopter. Flying at very low altitude, the helicopter carried out a simulated rescue of a stranded individual from a flood-affected area, demonstrating rapid response capabilities in difficult terrain. Indian Army helicopters were then deployed to conduct aerial reconnaissance and deliver relief supplies, highlighting the role of air support when road connectivity is disrupted due to floods or other calamities. Army personnel further demonstrated the use of a human chain to move stranded civilians to safer locations — a technique often employed when water flow is too strong for machinery or vehicles. In another key demonstration, SDRF personnel used a rope-throw gun to establish a temporary rope bridge across a river. Rescue teams successfully evacuated an injured person on a stretcher through the improvised crossing. The drill also featured boat-based rescue operations, showcasing the safe evacuation of people trapped in floodwaters amid strong currents and waterlogging. Operation Hifazat served as a comprehensive demonstration of inter-agency coordination and disaster preparedness, reinforcing the readiness of security and rescue forces to respond effectively during natural calamities.
