Pierre Salmon ’00 recounts his experience surviving a fatal car accident that took the lives of two fellow students at North Greenville University in November 2000.
Salmon was riding in the passenger seat when he and his friends, Shawn Boyd and Rachel Cooler, were struck by an 18-wheeler. This happened just a month after the sudden death of an NGU football player, James Rushing, in October 2000.
Salmon reflected, “I would say a whole month – it was just tragedy”.
He said that while he was in the hospital the waiting room and parking lot were full of NGU students, faculty, and staff.
Steve Crouse, Senior Campus Pastor, said, “It’s good to be a part of a caring community […] there were a lot of people there”.
