The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is a self-monitoring tool that is voluntarily agreed to by the NEPAD member-states and the AU. This platform allows African countries to evaluate themselves on governance as a way of bringing Africa's commitment to accountability and prosperity. On Thursday the APRM held its fourteenth anniversary in Fourways, Johannesburg. Former President Thabo Mbeki, who happens to be one for the APRM's founding members in 2003 was part of the discussions in evaluating the it's impact and effectiveness.
