Pre-Operation Checks
Inspect rails/wheels, hoist, wire rope or chain, brakes, limit switches
Check power supply and controls
Ensure load weight is within crane rated capacity
2) Positioning the Crane
Move the gantry along its rails or rubber tires to align above the load
Center the trolley over the lifting point
3) Rigging the Load
Attach slings, hooks, or spreader beams correctly
Confirm balanced rigging and secure connections
4) Lifting (Hoisting)
Hoist slowly to take slack
Lift the load vertically, watching for sway
5) Horizontal Travel
Move the trolley (cross travel) or the gantry (long travel) to the target location
Maintain steady speed to minimize swinging
6) Lowering & Placement
Lower the load carefully into position
Use tag lines if needed for precise alignment
7) Unhooking & Securing
Release rigging after the load is fully supported
Move crane to a safe standby position
8) Post-Operation
Park crane, switch off power
Log any issues or maintenance needs
Key Safety Points
Never exceed rated load
Keep clear communication (signals/radios)
Avoid lifting over people
Stop operations in high winds (for outdoor gantries)
