Supreme Court Stays UGC’s New Rules | Centre Asked to Respond | Next Hearing on March 19
The Supreme Court has put a stay on the UGC’s new regulations, calling them vague and warning of potential misuse. During the hearing, the bench of Chief Justice Suryakant and Justice Jyommalya Bagchi observed that the rules lack clarity and could be open to arbitrary interpretation.
The top court has also sought a response from the Central Government.
The matter will now be heard again on March 19.
