Did you know black olives are just green olives that have been salted and shaken over months? 🙃

My family have been making these black olives for years like this and they taste delicious 😋

So last year I brought some freshly picked green olives back from Cyprus and filmed the process so you can make some too, like they did in Varosi, Famagusta 😁

You'll need:
🫒 Freshly picked green olives
🫒 Salt
🫒 Sterilised jar
🫒 Arm muscles

Method:
🫒 Add a layer of olives to your jar
🫒 Sprinkle over a layer of salt
🫒 Add another layer of olives
🫒 Sprinkle over another layer of salt
🫒 Continue with the olive salt layers until you have used up all your olives
🫒 Shut the lid and shake so all the olives are covered in salt
🫒 Shake everyday for a minute to keep the olives coated
🫒 After a few weeks the olives will start to darken
🫒 In a few months the olives will turn black and start to wrinkle, giving you the traditional Black Cypriot Olive
🫒 Enjoy with some bread, halloumi, tomatoes and angouri (cucumber) the 🇨🇾 way! 😊
