As part of the Indian Strings Meeting 2025, we are pleased to present a public lecture by Prof. Ashoke Sen,
ICTS–Infosys Madhava Chair Professor, ICTS–TIFR, Bengaluru.
In this lecture, Prof. Sen provides a broad and accessible overview of string theory, discussing:
Why string theory is studied ?
Its many formulations and manifestations.
The deep unity underlying these seemingly different descriptions.
The talk is aimed at students, researchers, and the general scientific audience interested in theoretical high energy physics, string theory, and quantum gravity.
