Happy Birthday to Randy Jackson who was born on this date in 1956. Most people know him as a judge on American Idol, but he is also an incredible bass player and producer.
Randy played on this one - “Girl Can’t Help It” by Journey off of their “Raised On Radio” album which came out in 1986. I actually saw this tour with Randy playing bass. An interesting sidenote, Tubes members, Michael Cotton and Prairie Prince did the cover art for the album.
Here’s a Jean Luc Ponty cover I did a while back that has Randy playing, what I think is, an incredible bass line.
