Have you ever heard the term "mid-side processing"? What exactly is it? And, is it something you should pay attention to with your audio?
Instead of separating the audio into stereo left and right, mid-side separates audio into the mids and the sides, giving you more control over the width of the mix. This can allow you to emphasize reverb, widen synths, or make the bass more focused in the center.
