STAY WITH ME-BECAUSE WHEN PAROLE DECISIONS ARE MADE, SILENCE BENEFITS ONLY ONE SIDE- THE FELON
The man who killed my son is parole-eligible in December 2026.
Under Texas law, I understand that in June 2026, I am supposed to be notified by a representative from the Integrated Victim Services System (IVSS)—a system I personally registered with, as notification is not automatic.
I am now working with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to ensure I receive the information to which I am legally entitled as a victim.
And I want to be honest: This is a VERY COMPLICATED PROCESS.
I am not an attorney. I am a mother — a victim — trying to navigate a system THAT WAS NEVER DESIGNED TO BE SIMPLE OR TRANSPARENT FOR VICTIMS.
In future videos, I will take you with me on this journey — step by step — as I learn what victims are required to do, what we are told, and what we often discover too late.
Right now, I am in a state of confusion.
And I believe that is exactly how many victims feel.
My goal is to help other victims understand how to follow their own state’s rules and regulations, so they are not caught off guard or left out of a process that directly affects their safety.
Please understand this: unless you become a Momma Bear — unless you push, question, and demand information — the system does not explain itself.
And that is what this series is about.
📌 Quick Checklist
✔ Register with IVSS (Texas) for state parole notifications. (Other states have similar systems, but they are not automatic, not uniform, and often run by different agencies.
✔ Register with VINELink for broader offender custody notifications.
✔ For federal cases, contact the victim services office of the U.S. Attorney’s Office handling the case to enroll in the Federal Victim Notification System (VNS).
MOMMA BEAR
Each system is separate. Missing one can mean missing everything. Victims must often register in multiple systems.
