50th Anniversary of the formation of the RAAF Intelligence Officer Specialisation.
The RAAF Intelligence Officer Specialisation was formed 50 years ago on 20 September 1963 and has become a critical component of the Air Force's intelligence capability in enabling air operations throughout the RAAF's diverse and significant operational history.
During this time, Air Force intelligence personnel have deployed on operations around the globe, notably East Timor, Solomon Islands, Iraq and Afghanistan where they have been an integral part of the Air Force mission and worked with allies.
Today, the Air Force intelligence capability is being significantly enhanced as Air Force has recognised intelligence is a key enabler of its emerging future force where aircraft such as the E-7A Wedgetail, F/A-18F Super Hornet, and F-35A (Joint Strike Fighter) are as dependent on intelligence as maintenance and fuel.
