Gold Recovery Using Poorman’s Nitric Acid

Описание: In this video you will see the use of poor-mans Nitric Acid to recover Gold from 300 grams of gold plated pins .
I had chose Poor-mans Nitric to keep the Recovery costs to a minimum .
300 grams of pins , .65 grams of Gold recovered .(update .13 more grams were recovered from my pour out glass) .78 grams recovered so far . I will leach the filter paper again to see if I missed any gold .


2 liters of water
300ml of sulfuric acid
150ml of Sodium Nitrate
10 ml of Nitric
30 ml of SMB
20 ml of Sulfmatic acid
About 10$ in materials to recover 66 dollars of gold. Not too bad 56 dollar profit .

2NaNO3 + H2SO4 =NaSO4+2HNO3

Sodium Nitrate +Sulfuric Acid = Sodium Sulphate + Nitric Acid

Side reaction : Cu + HNO3 = Cu(NO3)2 + NO2 + H2O
Copper plus nitric acid equals copper nitrate , nitrogen dioxide and more water

There was some gold recovered during pour offs . I’m thinking of just dumping it in the stock pot maybe drying it out.
