In this video, Dave will discuss sensory seekers and what their regulation profiles can look like. He'll talk about the 'why' behind the seeking behaviours, as there can often be multiple explanations!
Sensory seekers are often full of energy, can look like they are bouncing off the walls, or can be labelled 'hyperactive'. We like to compare these children's sensory profiles to 'Tigger', the bouncy, excitable, energetic character from the children's cartoon Winnie the Pooh.
When looking at regulation profiles, Tiggers/Sensory seekers can have similar profiles to 'Eeyores' with big low zones (see previous video) - but they often overshoot into the high zone and can look a bit too energetic and what we often hear is they are disruptive in class. They like movement, but can be very disorganised when they attempt to engage in certain activities. In this video, Dave discusses sensory diet activities that help sensory seekers get to their optimal zone, but they do require help from us adults! Hint: There are tons of great videos on this page to help get you started!
