French MAS 36 CR39 Carbine: A Rare Range Review

For Memorial Day, we took something rather uncommon out to the range so it could stretch its legs a bit: the MAS 36 CR39. This very interesting little carbine was designed in France immediately before the start of WWII and was put into full production after the war had ended. Based on the original MAS 36 and firing the same 7.5x54mm cartridge, the CR39 has a 17.7" barrel and highly unique underfolding buttstock made of an aluminium alloy.
About 6,000 of these were created in total, and they were mostly used by French paratrooper units operating in Vietnam and Algeria.
