Air layering a bonsai is a great way to get a head start creating a new tree because we can choose a thick section of trunk. Roots need a balance of water and oxygen to form, too much water and excess callous tissue grows, with no roots. Cutti g away the excesss tissue and using an airy hrowing medium obviously helped! The remaining bottom section can now be grown out using a side bramch as the new trunk leader. Tridents thicken quickly so it wont take too many years to regrow the trunk, with even better taper and movement.
