(From katana to Cross)
This song is about Takume Sawabe (in baptism Paul), who changed his life by God's grace after attempting to assassinate a Russian Orthodox priest, later known as Saint Nicholas, Enlightener of Japan.

Lyrics (by me):
From frozen north to rising sun,
A black-robed monk crossed the sea,
He learned the tongue of Edo streets
With prayerful humility.
(In the night when temple bells ring)
He spoke of Christ, the Crucified—
Not conquest, but the pierced side.
[Pre-Chorus]
Ink-stained hands and patient years,
The Gospel clothed in native sound—
(The seed was quietly sown)
[Chorus]
From katana to Cross, from steel to grace,
From shrine-smoke to the Savior’s face.
(Lord, have mercy)
(The light of the Cross rises)
Christ has come to Nippon’s shore,
(Eternal life!)
A samurai in burning pride,
A priest of shrine and blade.
“You shame our land with foreign god!”
In wrath his challenge made.
(The sword gleamed in the dark)
“Tell me,” said the monk, “what do you hate?”
And mercy struck the spark.
(The night was long, the words burned bright)
Cross and empty grave.
(The God who loves His enemies)
The sword fell down.
(He bent his knee)
(I believe in Christ.)
From katana to Cross, from wrath to flame,
From pride to the Holy Name!
(Lord, have mercy)
(The Cross has conquered!)
From Russia’s snow to Japan’s dawn,
(One Church!)
