In an apparent bid to counter allegations that it is favouring the Adani Group, the BJP has drawn connections between Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi and the US billionaire George Soros. Claims and counter-claims were made during Parliamentary proceedings today with the BJP accusing Sonia Gandhi of having links with an organisation funded by the George Soros Foundation. The organisation has been identified as the FDL-AP Foundation. The BJP says the foundation backs Kashmir as a separate country and also accuses different organisations liked to the Soros foundation of trying to dent India's economy and defame the Modi government. In a press conference, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju brought up the issue saying, “I want to tell the leaders of the Congress party that everyone should unite against the forces working against India. The issue of George Soros has already been raised in Parliament”.
