Introduction and History | The Stapley Boat Restoration Pt1

Описание: Welcome to the next project! This is the start of me next video series in which I will be documenting the restoration of this Stapley, a wooden Ski Race Boat from the 1970's.

We believe this boat was built was built by Ray Stapley in 1969/1970 for Dennis Holmes and was used for ski racing under the name Pisces. Originally fitted with a straight 6 Mercury and later a V6. Other than that we know very little history about the boat so if you know any more information about the boat then we would be really interested to find out more about it.

The boat is completely wood construction, despite often being mistaken for fibreglass. She came into the workshop to have a new deck fitted due to the old one working loose. On investigation I found that all of the deck beams had come away from the hull and there had also been some water ingress in certain areas of the hull.

In this video I am doing a look around the boat and an introduction to bring you up to date. In the next video I will be commencing work, starting with turning the boat over and stripping the hull back to see the extent of the damage.
