Here was also a medieval castle, in similar style like medieval german castles, some fragments and bastions of it still visible, in the south part of the castle. The real baroque ornaments will be restored soon. Today the castle has a simplified look because of the communist times after the war.

In the middle ages, here were lot of houses and small streets, but those were destroyed during the turkish attacks and not rebuilt anymore.

This part of the castle walls was protected by the guild of the fishermen in the medieval times, who lived under the walls in the so called Watertown. Today it is a view terrace and an expensive restaurant.
