Original airdate: 1-06-57
In this elaborate production dealing with the family of King Tut, we are transported back in history some three thousand years, as Loretta Young presents an authentic dramatization of an incident in the life of the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, wife of a Pharaoh, mother-in-law to King Tut.
Miss Young wears seven different head dresses, and makes twelve complete costume changes in this half-hour drama, including fifty-one pieces of jewelry specifically designed for this program.
The teleplay accurately dramatizes an incident in the short but fruitful life of the Egyptian queen, wife of Pharaoh Akhenaton. This story is based on one of the legends concerning the famed Queen’s likeness, which was carved in limestone by a young and talented artist named Thutmose about 1300 B.C.
Co-starring Lawrence Dobkin as Akhenaton. Dobkin was a television director, character actor and screenwriter whose career spanned seven decades.
Dobkin was a prolific performer during the Golden Age of Radio. His voice was used to narrate the classic western Broken Arrow (1950). His film performances include Never Fear (1949), Sweet Smell of Success (1957) and North by Northwest (1959). He announced the landmark television series Naked City (1958–1963), closing each episode with the statement, "There are eight million stories in the naked city, and this has been one of them."
On October 28, 2002, Dobkin died of heart failure at his home in Los Angeles. He was 83 years old. His ashes were cast into the Pacific Ocean.
Ken Remo plays Thutmose. Remo was a singer and actor who, during the 1950s and 1960s, appeared frequently on television including the Loretta Young Show, Sid Caesar Show, Tennessee Ernie Show. Danny Kaye Show and Chevy Show. On Broadway he appeared in Oklahoma, King and I, Kismet and Song of Norway.
Robert Warwick (Zoser) was a stage, film and television actor with over 200 film appearances to his credit. He made his Broadway debut in 1903 in the play "Glad of It" with a young John Barrymore. Both actors, over time, became matinee idols.
Warwick made numerous appearances on television almost from its initial popularity in the late 1940s. In his seventies he was still hard at work on every type of television show from westerns like Broken Arrow and Sugarfoot to the adventure series Rescue 8, to the science fiction series The Twilight Zone, to the anthology series The Loretta Young Show.
Warwick died in June 1964 in West Los Angeles, California, at the age of 85.
