Track Owners Raise Concern Over Food Supply Transport Restrictions


A press conference was held today by the local track (truck) owners of Kargil, highlighting serious concerns regarding the recent directives issued by the Food and Civil Supplies Department.
During the conference, representatives of the transport community expressed strong dissatisfaction over the alleged decision by the concerned authorities, including the Secretary of the Food Department, to restrict transportation of food supplies exclusively to government transport, thereby excluding local transporters from the supply chain.
The track owners stated that such a move would directly impact the livelihoods of hundreds of local drivers and transport operators who have been traditionally involved in the distribution of essential commodities across various villages of district Kargil. They emphasized that local transporters have always played a crucial role in ensuring timely delivery of food supplies, especially in remote and difficult terrains.
The association further pointed out that limiting supply operations only to government transport could lead to logistical challenges and delays, affecting the smooth distribution of essential food items to rural areas.
They appealed to the administration and the Food Department to reconsider the decision and ensure equal opportunity for local transporters, maintaining transparency and fairness in the allocation of supply orders.
The track owners urged the authorities to engage in dialogue with stakeholders and resolve the issue at the earliest in the interest of both public service and local employment.
