It was a beauty to behold as the whole town was full of frenzy and in festival mood while the residents were full of excitement and joy as both young and old came out in their large numbers to celebrate this festival that has written the name of the state in the map of the world.

Tourists from across the globe have made it a point of reference to attend the festival as the festival each year draws tourists from across the world to the state and most especially because of the mountain climbing in the town of Idanre. The town of Idanre was light with beautiful decorations and brought to life as this year's Mare Festival was unleashed for the people of the state most especially the residents of Idanre. Idanre is a town which shares a boundary with a forest reserve deploying modern technology to explore its cultural and tourism heritage. The 2012 edition of the festival started with a cultural and carnival procession led by carnival float. The procession started from the State Cultural Centre, Alagbaka, Akure and moved very slowly through the popular Oba Adesida Road to Idanre.

The state Cultural troupe and other cultural troupes from different local government areas of the state took their turns to entertained the huge crowd that came to have a pleasant evening and the mastering of the traditional steps and dance of the cultural troops and musical artiste really made the day a very beautiful one.
