A third suspect has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of a well-known Texas jeweler in an alleged 'murder-for-hire' plot. .  at approximately 4.45am, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by ABC News.  Share this article Share His wife, Corey Shaughnessy, exchanged gunfire with the gunman before hiding in a closet and calling 911. . . Nicolas Shaughnessy and girlfriend Jaclyn Edison, both 19, were charged on May 29 for soliciting to commit capital murder in the plot against the boy's parents. Footage from his home showed that Nicolas had met with two men on February 28 and one of the men was tracked down by police. 'The source' - as he is referred - admitted that he was in the video and so was Leon. 'At first, Nick and Johnny would not tell the source what they actually wanted him to do, but they eventually told him they needed two people to two people, by shooting them,' the affidavit for the arrest said.  'The source said he was offered $2,500 to do it, another $2,500 after it was done, and then another $5,000 later on.' Both Nicolas and Edison told police that they were at home in College Station, Texas, at the time of the murder. Cops obtained a search warrant to the son's home on March 5, and found 'a box of .380 caliber ammunition was found, with six rounds missing from the box. The ammunition matched the caliber and brand of the fired .380 caliber casings found in the area of Theodore Shaughnessy's body.' Text messages between Nicolas' phone from between him and Edison showed that the girlfriend asked: 'Do they want 50K or not.' He responded: 'We will see. ... I'm sure they're [sic] casual jobs are around 10.' Authorities also found that the night of theings, someone from the College Station home disabled the security system of the parent's home. Nicholas told police during interviews that his friend, 19-year-old Spencer Patterson, entered the home through the window with him once prior to the murders. Text messages found between the two showed a discussion about payments for a job and Patterson asking for suggestions. Nicolas was said to have said: 'No mask needed cuz they'll be dead.' Several anonymous sources also claimed that Nicolas approached them abouting his parents, including one on May 29. He had estimated that he would receive some $8 million from the life insurance policies for both his parents, from the sale of the couple's home and sale of his father's prominent jewelry store.  Perry Minton and Rick Flores, the attorneys representing Nicolas Shaughnessy, released a statement that said:'We have been working with the Shaughnessy family over the last several months as they mourn the loss of Ted. These allegations are not consistent in any way with the young man we have come to know. Nick has been living with his mother since this tragedy occurred. Ms. Shaughnessy stands firmly behind her son. We will review the evidence as it becomes available to us.'Nick Shaughness
