Boat cradle build | Ep 6

Описание: With cyclone season fast approaching here in Fiji, part of our strategy for keeping NV safe this year is to sit her in a cradle on top of a 20ft shipping container. By 'cradle', we mean a seat to sit the boat in when it's on the hard.

This video shows the making of the aft cradle, which consists of 4 ribs, where each rib is made up of 4 strips of mahogany laminated on top of each other with fiberglass in between. Finally this is glued to a support plank with blocks and wedges glued between the two.

Caio! We are Timo and Jo, an Italian and English couple with countless ocean miles under our belts, including sailing half way around the world from Europe to Fiji!

Last year we bought an Open 66 ft race sailing boat originally designed and built by the famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa. He raced her in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), coming 5th and becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race.

We are currently in Fiji transforming NV from an race boat to a performance family cruiser!

We’re planning to set sail again in October 2022 , giving us just over a year to turn our dreams into reality and get back on the water! With limited time and money we have plenty of challenges ahead.
