Though Gears of War: Ultimate Edition's reshot cinematics and remastered visuals are pretty, the improvements aren’t only cosmetic. The ‘modernised’ multiplayer means that they’ve added a bunch of multiplayer features that weren’t around when the first Gears of War hit but are now industry standards, such as enemy spotting, reviving while in cover, alternate controls and spectator slots.

Playing Gears of War: Ultimate Edition also gives you early access to the Gears of War 4 Beta when it launches in Spring 2016, so get on that if you can’t wait til next Christmas to play the next Gears game.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition comes out on release date 25 August 2015 (US) and 28 August 2015 (EU).
