📘 Concept:
An ammeter is used to measure the current in a circuit.

📍 Reason for Series Connection:
1️⃣ To measure the current flowing through a component, the ammeter must be placed in the same path as the current → i.e., in series.
2️⃣ An ammeter has very low resistance, so it does not affect the circuit current.
3️⃣ If connected in parallel, the low resistance would cause excess current to flow through the ammeter, damaging it.

💡 Exam Point (NEET/JEE/Boards):

Series = Ammeter (measures current).

Parallel = Voltmeter (measures potential difference).
