Deep in the Scottish Highlands, the decaying remains of RNAS Fearn (also known as HMS Owl) stand as a silent testament to Britain's naval history.
In this video, we explore the abandoned site of this former Royal Naval Air Station. Originally opened in 1941, the base became a vital training ground for the Fleet Air Arm, hosting legendary aircraft like the Fairey Swordfish, Barracuda, and Grumman Avenger. At its peak, over 3,000 personnel worked here, honing the skills that would eventually help sink the German battleship Bismarck.
In this video, you’ll see:
The current state of the decaying WWII buildings.
The iconic Bellman Hangar and the restored Control Tower as featured on Channel 4 'Resoration Man'
Historical footage of the aircraft that once called this base home.
The haunting atmosphere of a site once buzzing with military activity.
