Train Cab Ride NL / Rerouted / Watergraafsmeer - Amsterdam Zuid - Rotterdam / TRAXX / April 2023

Описание: Hi everyone! First of all I'd like to thank you for a the comments under my previous videos. I hope I replied to all of them now. It was such an honor to share the ICNG introduction day with you all. Soon there will be more ICNG videos of course. But for now we'll climb back on board the TRAXX for a rerouted ride from Amsterdam to Rotterdam.

0:00 Watergraafsmeer
Today we start the ride on the other side of the Watergraafsmeer. At the start of the video you can see an overview of the east part of the Watergraafsmeer. This shunting yard is located between Amsterdam Muiderpoort and Diemen. We're now on the Diemen side of the yard.

After walking for a while I arrived at the train and made it ready for departure. Due to some planning issues I was send to the wrong train first. Therefor we depart a bit late at the start of the ride after we go permission for the train dispatcher.

We must drive on sight on this part of the Watergraafsmeer. Also the maximum speed is set to 10km/h when driving on the tracks that can't be controlled by the train dispatcher. All junctions are set by hand on this part of the yard. One of my colleagues already set the right path for my train earlier that morning.

5:17 Leaving Watergraafsmeer
This is the point where we officially leave the Watergraafsmeer. From this point on all junctions and signals are controlled by the train dispatcher again. Our train will also show up in the dispatchers screen again. We keep right heading towards Diemen Zuid.

8:44 Stop Cancelled
Normally a stop was planned at this location. But the train dispatcher has no other traffic going on at this early Sunday morning. So our path has already been set. This gives us a head start on our schedule.

9:37 Diemen Zuid
Again we keep to the right here. Heading towards Duivendrecht and Amsterdam Zuid.

10:20 Duivendrecht
We pass this station on the lower deck. Not mentioned in the video is the line on the upper deck ((left) Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena - Amsterdam Centraal (right)).

13:39 Amsterdam Zuid
Arriving at Amsterdam Zuid station. This is the starting point for our ride to Rotterdam today. This because there are construction works going on between Amsterdam Centraal and Amsterdam Sloterdijk (the original route).

After a cut in the video we depart towards Schiphol Airport. Our next stop. Not speeding up directly because I applied old regulations. Always fun having discussions with colleagues about this later on my socials. Keeps us all sharp. Conclusion is that we could've speeded up to 130km/h right away. :D

It's quiet this morning. Everyone is still in bed. There's a longer stop planned on this station than normally. Therefor there's a cut in the video.

25:47 Hoofddorp + Entering High Speed Line
The weather is beautiful today. Gotta enjoy that! :D Right after Hoofddorp we enter the HSL. Here we change from ATB to ERTMS (speed safety systems). And we also change voltage. On conventional tracks we drive under 1.5kV DC. On the HSL under 25kV AC. A 400 meter long grounded voltage change-over must be passed with pantographs down.

Still a temporary speed limit in place due to multiple issues with this part of the HSL infrastructure.

The longest train tunnel we have in The Netherlands.

40:09 Phase-Lock Bleiswijk
This is a 400 meter section with no power on the wires (but not grounded). The section separates two high voltage sections preventing too many trains to run under one section sucking all the power from the lines. The pantographs stay in the up position. But the main switch of the train is turned off. All systems on the train keep working on batteries so long.

43:40 A16 Rotterdam + Leaving High Speed Line
Here's a new viaduct in place now for a brand new high way. The A16. Connecting two other high ways for faster traffic during rush hour. After this we drive into the Rotterdam Noord Tunnel of the HSL. This is where another voltage change over is located. 400 meter of grounded wires that must be passed with pantographs down. At the end of the HSL we also change back to the ATB speed system.

After leaving the HSL we directly arrive at our destination.
