WB Election: CM Mamata Banerjee Vs Suvendu Adhikari In Bhabanipur; BJP vs TMC In Bengal Battleground

Описание: The Trinamool Congress has announced candidates for all 294 seats in the West Bengal assembly elections. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will contest from Bhabanipur, her political fortress where she has won three times, including a decisive victory in the 2024 by-poll with a sweeping 71.9% vote share. The BJP has fielded Suvendu Adhikari, Mamata's former protege-turned-rival, against her in Bhabanipur. Adhikari is contesting from two seats - both Bhavanipur and Nandigram. In 2021, Adhikari had edged past Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram in a razor-thin contest. This time, the TMC has fielded one of Adhikari's former loyalists to challenge him in Nandigram. The BJP strategy appears aimed at containing Mamata Banerjee in Bhavanipur and limiting her state-wide campaign. The Trinamool has fielded 53 women candidates and dropped 74 sitting MLAs in an organisational shake-up.
