And Daniel prayed in the morning,
and prayed in the evening,
and prayed in the afternoon.

King Darius loved Daniel and he gave him a mighty hand,
Which made the princes jealous and they issued a command.

For thirty days the kingdom was to pray just to the king,
And he who prayed to God or man was thrown in the lion’s den.

Now Daniel prayed three times a day and all the princes knew,
But Darius called out to him, “May God deliver you!”

Now Daniel in the lion’s den was sealed with a heavy stone,
But all the lion’s mouths were shut, for Daniel was not alone!
