===== STORY =====
From the Arcade version's in-game bio:
"In his human form, Smoke was a lethal assassin working for the Lin Kuei. But when they decided to automate their ninjas, Smoke is caught in the middle. He became a cyborg assassin, whose human form would exist as a memory forever more."
===== GAMEPLAY & INFORMATION =====
---- Despite some thinking that he is just a clone of Scorpion with a different colour, he actually isn't. There are significant differences, such as his close-up combos, different 1st Fatality, and the lack of a complete finishing move set.
---- His close-up combos which involve the HP as a starter, he uses Scorpion's axe. Perhaps it would have been a better idea to use one of the other male ninja's close-up combos for Human Smoke.
---- As he is Smoke, he emits smoke in gameplay. Just like Cyborg Smoke.
---- When fighting against Motoro, he does not emit any smoke. This is most likely to prevent slowdown or sprite flickering due to the hardware not being able to handle it.
---- He has a proper Versus/Ending screen portrait image. You won't see this on the Versus screen though because of the nature of the command input to select him.
---- On the fight path screen, he uses Cyborg Smoke's icon image.
---- He loses the super speed walking he had in MK2.
---- He loses the special move he had in MK2 where he rushes forward REALLY fast and throws the opponent.
---- In MK2, he had Reptile's neutral stance. Perhaps he should have used Reptile's neutral stance in UMK3 too for consistency.
---- UMK3 marks the first time that Human Smoke officially becomes a playable character. He was unplayable in MK2.
--- When you complete the game with him, he has his own ending.
===== ABOUT SNES UMK3 =====
The game is developed by Avalanche Software. As this uses the same code from Sculptured Software's previous port (MK3) on the same size cartridge size (32Mbit), it meant that many cuts had to be made, some of which as follows:
---- The character Sheeva is removed.
---- Most of the original MK3 stages were removed, only The Pit 3 and Rooftop remains. All 5 UMK3 unique stages are in the game.
---- The announcer voices for the character's names are removed.
---- The Animalities are removed. However the Mercy feature is still intact.
However, there were some extras/improvements over the original Arcade UMK3:
---- Rain and Noob Saibot are added to the playable roster.
---- Mileena, Ermac and Classic Sub-Zero are available from the start and are regular characters.
----- Brutalities (from Mortal Kombat Trilogy) were added to the game.
