Words of Encouragement from Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti to the SciFest 2024 National Finalists

Описание: We were absolutely delighted to have Samantha Cristoforetti, an esteemed astronaut from the European Space Agency (ESA), send a special video message to the SciFest 2024 National Finalists. Samantha, an Italian astronaut, has an inspiring legacy in space exploration. Between November 2014 and June 2015, she spent 200 days aboard the International Space Station as a Flight Engineer for Expedition 42 and 43 during the Italian Space Agency ASI-sponsored Futura Mission, conducting groundbreaking experiments in the station's laboratories.

Samantha embarked on her second space mission, Minerva, on 27 April 2022 as a member of Crew-4. During this mission, she spent 170 days in space as a mission specialist for Expedition 67 and 68. Notably, she became the fifth European and the first European female commander of the International Space Station and conducted her first spacewalk—the first by a European woman.

Samantha’s remarkable achievements and her unique touch, like brewing the first espresso coffee in space, are an inspiration to us all. Her message, shared during our award ceremony, left an indelible impression on everyone present.
