Legislator Maruthibbegowda who arrived for a function atop the Male Mahadeveshwara hill in Hanuru taluk of Chamarajanagar district is said to have picked a fight with a PSI on duty. The legislator had arrived for the inauguration of the JSS housing complex in the taluk. Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy was part of the event.

The video captured shows the MLC losing his cool after the PSI stopped his car. It is said that the legislator arrived late for the function and was hence stopped by PSI Basavaraj. However, the legislator lost his cool at the PSI for carrying out his duty. He is said to have threatened to get the PSI suspended. It is said that despite Minister Sa Ra Mahesh's attempt to pacify the legislator, Maruthibbegowda wasn't ready to budge and insisted on the law-enforcement officer's suspension. In the end, Minister Sa Ra Mahesh drove the car himself.
