04. Building 15m carbon performance catamaran - "CarbonBee"

We are building "CarbonBee" in Berlin. Measuring 15 meters in length and based on our JANU-15 design, this full-carbon catamaran is designed to combine high performance with a well-balanced level of comfort.
It is a family project—from design and construction to ultimately sailing the catamaran.
Unsatisfied with the available options on the market, we decided to design and build the catamaran ourselves, using state-of-the-art materials and technology.
"CarbonBee" is conceived as a true blue-water sailing catamaran, offering a combination of lightness, strength, power, speed, and safety. Our goal was never to create a houseboat or a "condo-maran."
We also aimed to demonstrate that building a high-tech sailing catamaran is achievable for amateur builders.
The catamaran’s two hulls will each feature two double cabins, a shower with a washbasin, and a separate toilet with a washbasin. The bridge deck will include a kitchen, a saloon, navigation area, and a helm-steering station.
"CarbonBee" will be equipped with an electric propulsion system and will have the ability to regenerate energy while sailing.
"CarbonBee" measures 15 meters in length and 9.3 meters in width, with a draft of 0.5/2.5 meters and a weight of approximately 4.3 tons. Its displacement is 6.5 tons.

Wir bauen "CarbonBee" in Berlin. Mit einer Länge von 15 Metern und basierend auf unserem JANU-15-Design ist dieser Vollkohlefaser-Katamaran darauf ausgelegt, sowohl hohe Leistung als auch ein ausgewogenes Maß an Komfort zu bieten.
Es ist ein Familienprojekt – vom Design über den Bau bis hin zum Segeln des Katamarans.
Unzufrieden mit den verfügbaren Angeboten auf dem Markt, entschieden wir uns, den Katamaran selbst zu entwerfen und zu bauen – unter Verwendung modernster Materialien und Technologien.
"CarbonBee" wurde als echter Hochsee-Segelkatamaran konzipiert und bietet eine Kombination aus Leichtigkeit, Stabilität, Kraft, Geschwindigkeit und Sicherheit. Unser Ziel war es nie, ein Hausboot oder einen "CondoMaran" zu bauen.
Wir wollten auch zeigen, dass der Bau eines High-Tech-Segelkatamarans auch von Hobbybauern realisiert werden kann.
Die beiden Rümpfe des Katamarans werden jeweils zwei Doppelkabinen, eine Dusche mit Waschbecken sowie eine separate Toilette mit Waschbecken enthalten. Auf dem Brückendeck befinden sich eine Küche, ein Salon, Navigationsecke und ein Steuerstand.
"CarbonBee" wird mit einem elektrischen Antrieb ausgestattet und kann während des Segelns Energie zurückgewinnen.
"CarbonBee" ist 15 Meter lang und 9,3 Meter breit, hat einen Tiefgang von 0,5/2,5 Metern und wiegt etwa 4.3 Tonnen. Die Verdrängung beträgt 6,5 Tonnen.
