This video from the Summer of 2022 shows the long out of use tracks at the Sakonnet River crossing in Tiverton, RI. The bridge here was taken out of service in 1988 after a barge strike and was removed in 2007. There is often talk or hope of rebuilding the bridge as it would then connect Newport, RI with the national rail network but alas it is not a current project or even something under serious consideration at this time. The State of Rhode Island owns these tracks and the Providence & Worcester retains freight rights here. The track is also only out of service and was never officially abandoned keeping it ready for future use if it ever comes.
