The Parasites in Bloodborne Explained (Ludwig's guidance and 'thread of light')

I should also mention that the reason the Church encourages the Hunters to obliterate the beasts as violently as possible is to create the biggest mess possible of their blood and contaminate as much of the population with the blood as possible. There's a cultural shift from Gehrman's very tactical hunters to Ludwig's more vicious ones.
